Yucwmenlúcwu (Caretakers of the Land) LLP, and its forestry department are wholly owned by the Splatsin band. We currently have an opening for a Junior Forest Technician that consist of a 6-month term position with the potential of becoming full time. The purpose of this position is to provide assistance with the implementation of Forestry Development projects and initiatives. Scope of work may include other support duties to Yucwmenlúcwu’s Heritage, and Environment departments.
Qualifications and Requirements
Reporting to the Forestry Supervisor at Yucwmenlúcwu, the Junior Technician will work closely with a Senior Technician. This position included working in a field-based environment with associated office-based tasks. Work will generally be marshalled out of Enderby, but out of town work and camp shifts are to be expected. Field work days start at 7:00 am and are 10 hours long. Office days start at 8:30 am and are 8 hours long. On the job training and mentoring opportunities will be provided for those wishing to advance their skills and knowledge.
