The Splatsin are the most southern tribe of the Shuswap Nation, the largest Interior Salish speaking First Nation in Canada whose aboriginal territory stretches from the BC/Alberta border near the Yellowhead Pass to the plateau west of the Fraser River, southeast to the Arrow Lakes and the upper reaches of the Columbia River.  Shihiya School is currently recruiting a Bus Monitor to join our team of professionals. 

Position Purpose

To maintain the conduct of passengers on the bus and to ensure the safety of students.  We have taken swift and proactive measures to combat COVID 19 as is relates to our operations.  The Bus Monitor will be responsible for proper disinfecting and ensuring appropriate physical distancing is adhered to.  This is a part-time, split shift position.

Position requirements: 

  • Practice safe work habits to prevent accidents
  • Report all incidents and concerns with passengers immediately
  • First Aid Certification
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Knowledge of the Splatsin Community is valued
