NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK:
Reporting to the Social Development Manager, the In-home Support Worker works with
KIB family clients to create a normalized and caring living environment. With appropriate treatment intervention strategies to meet therapeutic needs, the In-home Support Worker provides family
support and advocacy services.
DUTIES: Develops and instructs a program of customized daily living routines to family clients, focus will be family clients and single parent. Teaches competence in essential family living and parenting skills. Supports clients to reach and maintain positive family environment goals. Maintains a current knowledge of effective family therapy, techniques and practice. Establishes monitors/evaluates specific family strategies and goals in conjunction with client families. Facilitates models of collective problem solving appropriate to presenting problems. Responds to and handles unusual, emergency, or critical circumstances to ensure the safety of families, staff and self. Acts on assigned responsibilities as directed by the Social Development Administrator, such as completing intake, assessment and reporting requirements. Case manages clients, coordinating with other staff, professionals and resource agencies as required. Makes outside referrals as appropriate. Develops a comprehensive understanding of each client family’s case history, and progress, building rapport needed to facilitate behavior change. Maintains ethics and confidentiality requirements as outlined in the Secwepemc Child and Family Services Policy. Promotes and assists in the goals and objectives of the Social Development Department. Keeps Social Development regularly apprised of client development and progress. Seeks authorization for documentation to any outside agency, organization, or individual. Develops and maintains current, concise and confidential client files.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of your intervention regarding family therapy and techniques. Display experience working with single parents and experience working with single dads an asset. Ability to develop and maintain current, concise and confidential client files. Good Interpersonal Communication Skills. Team player. Flexible, committed and enthusiastic. Criminal record check. Valid Class 5 Drivers License & reliable transportation.
REQUIRED LICENCE, CERTIFICATION ETC: Child and Youth Care Diploma Child & Youth Care Degree or BSW Certification of Parenting Pros Facilitator training.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years experience in the Human Service Field.
HOURS OF WORK: Normal day shift – 7 hours per day. Non – normal shift may be required.
PAY GRADE: As per K.I.B. salary/wage grid.
