Bernadette provides employment outreach service to the Splatsin Band she has been working as a
Career Counsellor for the past 9 years working for various organizations. She is a certified Life Skills
Coach and has her Provincial Instructors Diploma and has training in the Essential Skills curriculum
and believes in continuous learning. She assists First Nations people in gaining independence
by assisting them in overcoming barriers/ obstacles that may be preventing them from securing
employment either through training or life skills.
The Employment Department is responsible for the STEP funding for Splatsin and working with
community members in assisting them with training to assist with securing employment.
Goal
The goal of the Employment Services is to assist with employment options among the rapidly growing
First Nation population, while meeting the on-going employment needs of local organizations and
businesses.

programs to assist you with obtaining employment or training funds through Aboriginal organizations
if training is required to meet the needs of the employers. We have job postings, access to
computers, free fax and phone services to assist you in your job search.
