Yucwmenlúcwu (Caretakers of the Land) 2007 LLP is a standalone Forest Management Company, wholly owned by Splatsin and guided by an Independent Board of Directors in partnership with Splatsin Community. The Company’s Operation Manager is Les Skaalid, a professional forester with over 30 years of experience in all aspects of forestry, construction and administration. The Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) has been successfully in operation for the past 4 years even though the Province’s Forest Industry has gone through the toughest times in recent history. Our success is due to being business focused, having a thorough understanding of the industry, being competitive and delivering on commitments.
The Company’s initial business focus has been harvesting and marketing logs off Splatsin’s 4 Non-replaceable Forest Licences and Band owned Woodlot. The Company has directly undertaken and completed numerous pre and post harvest forestry projects. The Company has also aligned itself and is working with established and experienced partners who we hold formal working agreements with, and have the capacity to undertake a wide variety of work and we are now looking to expand our scope to provide additional business and employment opportunities to Community members.

Les Skaalid, RPF Operations Manager
Les Skaalid is a professional forester with over 30 years of experience in forestry in BC. Les received his forest tech diploma from the College of New Caledonia in Prince George and his forestry degree from the University of British Columbia. He has worked most of his career in northern BC in the Prince George and Mackenzie area before being hired by Yucwmenlúcwu in March 2008. Les has held senior management positions such as Environmental Co-ordinator, Manager of Business Development and Woodlands Manager for forest companies over the past 20 years. Les is married with twin teenage daughters who loved the move from the north to the sunny Okanagan.
Maureen Roberts, Accounting Clerk
Maureen Roberts was hired on April 1st, 2008 by Yucwmenlucwu (Caretakers of the Land) 2007 LLP as the Accounting Clerk. Maureen received her Basic Accounting Certificate and Simply Accounting Certificate; January 2006 at Okanagan College in Salmon Arm, BC and who has also graduated in 1986 with a diploma at A.L. Fortune in Enderby, BC. Maureen was born in Enderby, who has off and on lived in the community. Maureen has been married for 11 years to a wonderful man with two fabulous children; one teenage boy and his older sister, who graduated 2009.
